Bundanoon – the Southern Highland’s most beautiful village

Less than 2 hours from Sydney or Canberra, Bundanoon is the most picturesque of the Highland’s villages. Bundanoon is well worth visiting at any time of the year!

Bundanoon  is the ‘Quintessential Southern Highlands Experience’ and the perfect village alternative to larger towns such as Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale and the perfect place to relax & unwind. With a population of approximately 3000, our quaint village is the northern gateway to Morton National Park where you can walk for miles and take in all of the breathtaking scenery it has to offer.

Some of the famous lookouts are Echo Point and Fairy Bower, the walking trails wind through untouched bushland, the picnic spots the perfect place to rest a while. Keep an eye out for rare native flowers, flocks of native birds and animals ( you may just catch a glimpse of a wallaby or kangaroo). There’s even a camping area with restroom and showering facilities if you’d like to get a little closer to nature.

Just over 90 minutes travel time from both Sydney and Canberra, Bundanoon is easily accessible via the M5 and M7 motorways. Please check State Rail timetables if travelling by train.

Once you arrive you can explore all the attractions the village has to offer on foot or by bike. All other local attractions and towns (Berrima, Bowral, Exeter, Mittagong, Moss Vale and Robertson) of the Southern Highland are just a short drive away, making day tripping a delight.

There are plenty of options for accomodation in town from the local Youth Hostel (YHA) and hotel, our local motel and health retreat and unique guest houses plus an enormous range of B&Bs and cute country cottages to suit everyone and all families, to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible.

You’ll not go hungry either with hearty & healthy country fare on offer from our local cafes, bakery & delicatessen, restaurants and our distinctive pub and friendly club.

Today Bundanoon is the 4th largest (residential) area in the Highlands, and attracts vast numbers of tourists (up to 20,000 in one day for Brigadoon alone). Other events throughout the year such as the Garden Ramble, Winterfest and the Highland Fling also attract the crowds. Plenty of special interest groups such as dance clubs, car & motorcycle clubs all make Bundanoon a destination on their yearly calendar of places to stay or visit.

There is a well established artists’ colony among its residents, but behind its sleepy old-world charm, Bundanoon is a vibrant community. The area is brimming with things to do including:

Exploring local antique and gift shops, golfing, bushwalking, bike riding, wineries & vineyards, village markets twice a month, the eerily beautiful Glow Work Glen, scenic drives & local festivals.

Local markets are held in the community hall every 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month as are regular movies courtesy of the ”Bundanoon Rex Cinema”. Concerts and choir events are also regularly held here.

Stay for the weekend or perhaps even longer. With warm summers, cool autumn evening, frosty winter mornings and fragrant spring days, Bundanoon is well worth visiting at any time of the year!
